Personal Budgeting Tip 101

Hey everyone!  I wanted to share a quick and easy budgeting tip for your personal finances, and also for your business.  It is really quite easy to understand and to implement.  My wife and I have been budgeting ever since we have been married.  I know this may sound kind of funny coming from me, but my wife is actually the one in charge of money in our house.  She does a great job keeping us afloat.

Anyway, the tip involves those fluctuating utility bills.  It’s like taking a roller coaster ride blindfolded.  Some months your bill will dip to tiny amounts, where other months it may jump to mammoth proportions.  Well, this can be a budgeting hassle.  It causes us to over-budget in some months, and under-budget in others.

WHAT TO DO:  call up your utility companies (gas, electric, etc…) and tell them that you would like to be on their 12 month equal payment program.  It doesn’t cost you anything extra and the utility company will do all of the busy work calculating your average payments over the past 12 months to come up with your rate for the next 12 months.  This way you know exactly what to budget for every month.  No surprises, good or bad!  And so easy to budget your utility bills!
